No Pressure
No Pressure
“Taking my time, appreciate all of this SH*T.”
A word from Double Dolla, himself.
No Pressure
Coming off the Wave Tape, I felt Vade and myself found our sound and it was time to build on it. I think that in the first half of creating this [project], we caught ourselves comparing it too much to The Wave Tape and lost sight of the goal for a slight second. We took a step back, started recording in a new space, changed our recording hours and [the songs] ‘Journey’, ‘$till Wavy’ and (I think) ‘Somethin’ Better’ were created all at like 2/3 AM and from there we laid the foundation. I believe we had the name for the project by then but that was on some “This rap shit no pressure… cause I’m nice!”
Then… I tore my Achilles and that name took on a new meaning because everyone on my journey was saying this to me. From my doctor before my surgery, to my physical therapist during every visit, everyone kept saying No Pressure. So that really solidified the name for me because it was a daily mantra, at this point. The different challenges I took on mentally and physically, the countless hours of re-learning how to walk and just all the things that come with re-learning and re-inventing yourself. No Pressure was at the core of it all.
Coming back to the booth and picking up where we left off, I had more things to say and discuss without thinking too much (like before). It just came naturally… but it was a different natural… I can’t explain it. I embraced every challenge and in that it really changed my approach to anything I do in life because I am who I say I am. Under any pressure, I refuse to fold and that’s what No Pressure means to me.
